Licensing in WA is handled by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure.
WA Licensing Centres are open from 8.15am to 3.45pm weekdays, or you can phone 13 11 56.

L Drivers
How you choose to learn and who you choose to learn from is up to you. The main restrictions are:
- that when you get in the car and begin, you are required by law to have either a qualified instructor or an approved supervisor with you and,
- that you identify yourself as a learner to everyone else on the road with L Plates (yellow background, black L) on the back and front of the car.
Obviously these are only basic precautions. Your supervisor will give you a lot of help and other drivers who see the L plates will hopefully give you some space.
But it's still you, the driver, who has the ultimate responsibility. It's you that has to keep everyone in the car (and other road users) alive and unhurt. We recommend taking charge of that responsibility well before you get behind a steering wheel.
